Create a Bouncy Link for Your Instagram Bio
Step by step: create a Bouncy deeplink, add it to your Instagram bio, test it on your phone and read the results. Works with a page you already have.
To create a Bouncy link for your Instagram bio, sign up for a free account, create a deeplink that points at the page you want followers to reach, and paste that deeplink into your profile’s links. It takes a few minutes, and the free plan covers one link. The steps below walk through each part, including how to check that it works.
What a Bouncy link does
When a follower taps the link in your bio, Instagram normally opens it in its own built-in browser, where they are signed out of everything. A Bouncy deeplink notices when it is tapped inside Instagram’s built-in browser and is built to open the destination in the visitor’s own browser or app, where saved logins and one-tap checkout work.
The longer explanation is in why Instagram links lose sales. If you are here because you tapped a Bouncy link and want to know what it is, read what bouncy.ai is.
What you need
- A page to send people to: your shop, booking page, subscription page, or the link in bio page you already use.
- An email address for your Bouncy account.
- Your phone, to test the link at the end.
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up for a free Bouncy account and confirm your email. No card is needed for the free plan.
Step 2: Create the deeplink
- Click Create Deeplink in the sidebar.
- Choose a domain. On the free plan your link lives on
bouncy.ai. Paid plans can pick one of Bouncy’s other short domains or use a domain of their own. - Type a name for the link. This is the part after the slash, so
mayagives youbouncy.ai/maya. It can be 3 to 50 characters, using letters, numbers and hyphens, and it has to be one nobody has taken. - Paste your destination. This is the page followers should end up on.
- Leave the behavior on Conservative. It is the standard mode and the one the free plan uses. Paid plans can choose other modes.
- Click Create, then copy your new link.
Step 3: Add it to your Instagram bio
- Open Instagram and go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links, then Add external link.
- Paste your Bouncy link, give it a title if you like, and save.
Instagram’s menus change from time to time, so the wording on your phone may differ slightly.
Step 4: Test it on your phone
Do this from your own profile, not from your notes or a message to yourself.
- Open your Instagram profile and tap the link in your bio.
- Watch where the page opens. In your own browser you will see its usual address bar and tabs. Inside Instagram you will see an Instagram bar with a close button and a menu.
- Go to the sign-in or checkout step of your page and check that you are signed in as you would expect.
Instagram changes how its app handles links from time to time, and no link tool controls that, so repeat this check after a big Instagram update.
Step 5: Read the results
Analytics are part of Bouncy’s paid plans. They show views and clicks, where visitors are, which devices they use and where the visit came from. On the free plan the analytics page shows a preview only. For what to look at, see link analytics: what to track.
In Bouncy’s own customer results, creators who swapped a direct link to their subscription page for a Bouncy deeplink saw conversions rise by 47% on average. Bouncy does not see your sales, so compare the weeks before and after in your own shop or platform.
Already have a link in bio page?
Keep it. Point your Bouncy deeplink at the page you already use, whether that is a Linktree, a Beacons page or your own site, and put the deeplink in your bio in its place. Nothing about your page changes. The deeplink is built to open it in your follower’s own browser.
If you would like to compare the two approaches first, see Bouncy vs Linktree. If you want to build a new page, see how to build a link in bio page that converts.
Things worth knowing
- You can change the destination later. Edit the deeplink and point it somewhere new. The address in your bio stays the same.
- Use it in stories too. Paste the same deeplink into a story link sticker. See the guide to Instagram story links.
- There is a QR code. Every link’s share window includes one, for posters, packaging or a slide. More in the QR codes and deeplinks playbook.
- Your own domain is a paid feature. Paid plans include unlimited custom domains. See why custom domains matter.

FAQ
Q: Is a Bouncy link free? A: Yes. The free plan includes one live deeplink on a bouncy.ai address. Paid plans start at $35 a month and add more links, your own domain and analytics.
Q: Can I use a Bouncy link with my Linktree? A: Yes. Set your Linktree address as the destination of the deeplink and put the deeplink in your Instagram bio. Your Linktree page stays exactly as it is.
Q: Can I change where the link goes after I have shared it? A: Yes. Edit the deeplink’s destination at any time. The link in your bio does not change, so nothing needs updating on Instagram.
Q: How do I know it is working? A: Tap the link from your own Instagram profile on your phone and see where the page opens. On a paid plan, your link’s analytics then show the views and clicks.
Q: What should the link name be? A: Something short that followers will recognise, usually your handle. It can be 3 to 50 characters, using letters, numbers and hyphens.
